Post 10: Evaluation of Blog Experience

Writing the blogs I found entertaining also in some of the topics I had to comment were very interesting as the "Childhood Series" or "The story or a picture" that were my favorites and I enjoyed writing them. I feel satisfied with the experience because unlike English 2, this one seemed much better. In addition to having to make comments to the blogs of our colleagues I think I could know them a little more because despite not sharing so much in the classroom in the blogs I knew their hobbies, outrage or academic interests. What I thought was a way to make the course more educational and closer. With respect to my writing skills, I think I moved forward because I did not dare to write so much in English before and now that I was able to practice, I think it worked. I liked having the challenge of thinking about what to write and the uncertainty of knowing the subject. In addition we did not use a journalistic language like in the other subjects then it felt a l...

Post 9: A Subject you've enjoyed studying this semester

This year I took an elective of "Tribunales". I went without any hope to the course, I thought I was going to hate it because I had not chosen that field, they gave it to me for lack of quotas in others. The first classes bored me a lot but when I started paying attention to what the teacher said I changed my attitude towards the subject. Classes are expository that means that the teacher talks and explains the subject while writing things on the board. He don’t use power point. We learn about the functioning of the judicial system in Chile and the role of journalism in that area. We did a visit to the palace of courts that is in the center of Santiago that was interesting and the evaluations have been simpler than I thought. Although for some I have been studying all night. We also comment on current court cases and learn everything that the Chilean justice system has done wrong. Now I think the course is very useful and that's why it has become one of my favorit...

Post 8: An Expert on your Field

The person in the photo is Leila Guerriero, Argentine journalist. She was born in the city of Junín and since 1992 she has been a journalist, started as a magazine editor and is now the editor of the Latin American magazine Gatopardo. I consider her an expert in this area because she writes very well and has worked with super important topics. Besides, she does not just look for the immediacy of the news, Leila concentrates on the characters and their stories. He has written several books such as: "The suicides of the end of the world", "The cursed”, among others. And in each one of them stands out the simple way in which he writes the facts and the closeness he generates between the characters and the reader. Leila Guerriero also stands out for her articles she has written profiles about characters like Nicanor Parra. She like  a woman, is a reference for the journalism because which makes her one of the most important female figures of journalism in Spanish.

Post 7: My indignation

I have always considered that authority is a type of power that generates controversy since it’s common to accept and recognize figures to lead or regulate us, but sometimes their performance is worse than that of subordinates. In Chile lately the role of the police has been questioned. On the one hand, due to the economic fraud of the institution and on the other because of it’s repressive behavior in the student mobilizations. The abuse of power is one of the things that most annoy me and the Chilean police has always committed it and currently continues to do so. It also bothers me a lot that the student movement is criminalized. The clashes between this authority and the students are becoming increasingly violent and frequent. That is not right, they are defending and fighting for their rights, and although violence may not be the correct way, there is no comparison between police clothing such as helmets, shields, etc. And the thin uniform of the students. The former hav...
